Four day Advanced Program

Dates: February 18th - 21st, 2025

Live, Eat and Learn on campus for the week

Location: New England Laborers' Training Academy, 37 East Str., Hopkinton, MA


Join us for another four day program where you would be housed in the dorms on campus at The New England Laborers' Training Academy. Live, Eat and Learn for the week. Students will receive a $100.00 stipend for the week.

  • Classroom activities may include: Craft Orientation, Basic Construction Math, Healthy Back, Financial Literacy
  • Hands on activities may include: Cutting and Burning, Welding, Pneumatic Tools, Manhole Invert, Pipe Laying - install hydrant, Concrete Practices and Procedures, Hoisting and Rigging - Hand Signals, Asphalt Practices and Procedures, Demolition, Work Zone Safety and Flagger Certification


Participants:

  • Up to 10 Pre-Apprenticeship Program Graduates will be selected to participate
  • Must be a previous graduate of the Massachusetts Pre-Apprenticeship and Vocational School Training Program
  • Must be 18 years of age or older by start of program
  • Must be physically able to perform duties
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation

This program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation with instruction by the New England Laborers' Union.

Teachers





Train the Trainer Four day Program

Dates: February 18th - 21st, 2025

Live, Eat and Learn on campus for the week

Location: New England Laborers' Training Academy, 37 East Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748


Join us for a four day program of "Train the Trainer." Where teachers will participate in an externship program to learn more about horizontal construction with the intention of increasing learning opportunities for students interested in horizontal construction. Teachers will also bring this enhanced knowledge of the industry and its career pathways back to the academic setting to be shared with students, school counselors, educators and parents. Ten graduates of the Massachusetts Pre-Apprenticeship Program will stay on campus for the week. NELTA Instructors will help train you to teach your incoming classes.


Classroom activities may include: Craft Orientation, Basic Construction Math, Healthy Back, Financial Literacy

Hands on activities may include: Cutting and Burning, Welding, Pneumatic Tools, Manhole Invert, Pipe Laying - install hydrant, Concrete Practices and Procedures, Hoisting and Rigging - Hand Signals, Asphalt Practices and Procedures, Demolition, Work Zone Safety and Flagger Certification

  • Up to 10 Vocational School Teachers will be selected to participate.
  • Teachers are required to submit a Power Point lesson plan to be shared at the conclusion on the four days on what you learned during the program.
  • Each teacher will be eligible for a $3,200 stipend upon completion of the four day long program and the receipt of Power Point lesson plan detailing how horizontal construction activities will be introduced in the academic setting.
  • You may choose to live on campus for the week or commute.

This program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation with instruction by the New England Laborers' Union.
