Public Works Career Fair @ The Expo

The September 22, 2022 Career Fair was a success! We met students from Norfolk County Agricultural High School, Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical School and Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School. We thank all of the schools that came and all of the employers that were there to greet them (For List of Employers Click Here).

HOW IT WORKS Employers are in dire need of good workers. There are many high school students who are preparing to graduate and are looking for work and a career but they don't know where to start. We are here to help bring you both together. The students listed above attended and have sent us their information and we will help connect them to employers (Vendors and Public Works Departments) that attended.

Students from area Vocational Schools recently attended a Career Fair at the Massachusetts Highway Association Expo in Marlboro. This annual indoor and outdoor event is the perfect location for vocational school students to interact with over two hundred companies from across New England. Representatives of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, road and bridge contractors, equipment dealers, departments of public works and water departments met with students to discuss co-op and full-time employment opportunities with their companies and organizations.

Feedback from the schools –

Thank you for providing this beneficial opportunity for our students. They had a wonderful time at the career fair and vendor event. The students enjoyed speaking with the vendors and learning about related careers in their field.

Thank you for inviting our school to the career fair. It was way more than we expected. Also thank you very much for the contact list. I will be reaching out to them seeing if they would be interested in coming into our school to present to our juniors and seniors.

Feedback from the exhibitors –

Thank you so much for extending the invitation to participate in yesterday’s Career Fair. We were excited to be there and met with many students who were equally excited to be there. We found them to be engaging and interested. All in all it was a great experience and time well spent. We look forward to participating in more programs or events of the same. Please keep us in the loop going forward.

Thanks for putting this together. We will absolutely participate again. From our chat on Thursday after the ‘Career Fair’ ended, I was encouraged that there have been Public Works placements through the program within the Water/Wastewater sub-specialty area. I would be interested in the full listing of schools that registered (including those who could not attend) and contact persons for each school.

EMPLOYERS

If you have a Co-op opportunity or career available to high school juniors, seniors or those that recently graduated or are interested in more information please

Click here to register and we will contact you.

What is a Co-op?

During the school year students attend academics for one week and then shop for the next week, alternating. During a Co-op students would work at your facility for their shop week instead of going to school. Co-ops are paid by the company hiring them. It is a great way for students to get a first hand look into the careers that are available while helping the employer to find a great match and get extra help. Once an employer agrees to take a co-op student there is an agreement made between the school and the employer and the school will perform a work site safety check. For more information please register below.
