Co-Ops

What is a Co-op?

Are you looking for an extra set of hands? Let us help connect you with a pool of great candidates!

Students would become a temporary or seasonal employee of your city/town

Students work for you during their shop week instead of going to school

Build relationships and find the next generation of hard workers

Reimbursement of student wages up to 160 hours at $16.50 per hour if confirmed in advance.

What does the DPW need to do?

  •  Let us know that you are interested (click the "Register Here" button below).
  • Interview students from our one-week program. We will send you resumes for students that are available and interested.
  • Send us a proposal for each student you wish to hire (Samples below or ask us for our easy copy and paste template) include start and end date for up to 160 hours. Typically students would work during their shop week and then go to school during their academic week.
  • The proposal will need our approval before the co-op can begin.
  • Be sure to "cc" us on all communications so we can confirm each proposal.
  • Students would be hired as part time or seasonal employee of your city or town.
  • The school may need to do a safety check - we will include the school contact with the resume.
  • We will need a photo or two of the student working and short update to add to our Success Stories page
  • Once the student's co-op is complete you would send us an invoice for reimbursement for up to 160 hours at up to $16.50 per hour with payroll backup and the towns w-9 for reimbursement. If you have any questions please ask us. We also have an easy copy and paste invoice template.
  • If you decide to keep the student longer than 160 hours you are welcome to do so without reimbursement from us.

What will the students do for the DPW?

Examples of typical experiences at a Department of Public Works could include

  • Working with mechanic
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Asphalt work
  • Pothole patching
  • Water and sewer experience
  • When we asked one of our co-op students what he did  while working with the DPW his response was "I do what they do"

Check out our Success Stories page for examples of past students at their co-ops
