
You may already have the qualifications needed to be registered with the state of Massachusetts as a Pre-Apprentice in the Highway Construction Laborer field. See below for details. This is a free program sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Click here to download the flyer
Individuals wishing to become a Registered Pre-Apprentice with the state of Massachusetts through our program must submit documentation showing they have completed the necessary hours. Example hours are below. Once we determine that you have completed at least seventy-five (75) hours of related instruction, we will forward your information and documents to the Department of Labor Standards for approval.
Requirements to register:

Complete our five-day program. This counts towards up to 30 hours. If your school did a four-day program with us, it would equal 24 hours.
You do not need to provide anything for this as we have your information.

If you have an OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card: OSHA 10 will count for an additional 10 hours, OSHA 30 will count for an additional 30 hours. If you have multiple certifications each one counts.

If you can show proof of hours spent (up to this point) with your shop instructor by sending us your transcript this can count for up to 150 hours. Email a photo or copy of your transcript to ErinGingerella@gmail.com from your personal email

If you have completed a co-op and can prove your hours (if done through our program we will already have this proof), this can count for up to 160 hours. Email proof of your co-op hours to ErinGingerella@gmail.com from your personal email

If you have done a job shadow or visited various work sites in this related field, this can count for up to 6 hours (can be a letter from supervisor or instructor). Email proof of job shadow to ErinGingerella@gmail.com from your personal email

If you have participated in related summer employment and can show proof, this can count towards up to 320 hours (can be a letter from supervisor). Email proof of related summer employment to ErinGingerella@gmail.com from your personal email

If you took our four-day program and have your CPR/AED/First Aid certification card: This will count for an additional 8 hours.

A commercial driver's license (CDL) allows someone to operate a commercial motor vehicle. If you have your CDL license it can count for up to 80 hours. Email a photo or copy of your CDL license to ErinGingerella@gmail.com from your personal email

The 2A Hoisting License allows candidates to operate front end loaders, backhoes and excavators. The 1C Hoisting License allows the candidate to operate a hydraulic boom with no cable, forklifts and lulls. Prep classes can be taken online. Your hoisting license can count towards up to 8 hours. The Hot Works Certification is approved by the Massachusetts Division of Fire Services. Certification can count towards up to 8 hours.

Certification from either MUTCD, National Safety Council, ATSSA, OSHA Institute or equivalent program that meets the same objectives. This certification can count towards up to 4 hours. Email a photo or copy of your certification to ErinGingerella@gmail.com from your personal email

Understanding basic life skills surrounding employment. Do you have a job? This can count towards up to 40 hours.
